A big consideration is your target users. If they are not all using the same flavour of browser, you will spend more time amd enery working out cross-browser compatibility than it may be worth. Even if your company has a "Standard" browser, we all know people uise whatever they want to use (unless of course you take an Orwellian approach to desktop management).
